4.8 million Brits consider becoming a landlord in 2018 according to the latest research from Sainsbury's Bank Mortgages.
A new research study from Sainsbury's Bank Mortgages shows that almost 1 in 10 of UK adults (9%) have shown some interest in taking out a buy to to (BTL) let mortgage in 2018.
Over 1 in 3 of those considering a buy to let mortgage said that changes to their income had inspired them to look into BTL mortgages. 29% also said that they 'remain encouraged with the opportunities to enter the BTL market'.
After receiving inheritance many have found themselves 'accidental landlords' and 1 in 4 were considering a BTL mortgage.
Just over half (51%) of potential landlords have considered buying a house, 46% a flat or apartment and 44% a new build property.
*52,079,000 adults currently live in the UK (ONS), of which 9% have plans to take out a buy-to-let landlord in 2018 = 4,755,717
